1. NUMBER OF STEPS; ARE THEY IMPORTANT? |
|

No! There is a wrong notion
that steps should be odd and not even. Let us see how this
notion came into vogue. It was a rule in the olden days that
one should always put the right foot forward while entering
or leaving a premises. If the number of steps are odd and
if you follow this rule, you will always step into premises
with your right foot first. Hence the rule. We normally follow
this rule when a newly wed girl enters her husband’s
house for the first time. But for the rest of our life, we
are blissfully unaware that such a rule exists. The rule regarding
number was designed to fulfil this need. As it is no longer
in vogue, it does not matter whether you have even or odd
number of steps. The number has nothing to do with Vaastu. |

2. SHOULD WE HAVE EVEN NUMBER OF DOORS AND WINDOWS? |
|

No!
Again this rule does not stand up to scrutiny. Probably, this
rule was made keeping the cross ventilation factor in mind.
Naturally, if you need good cross ventilation, a window or
door in front has to have a window or door at the back as
well. It is the cross ventilation factor we have to check
and not the number of windows.

Would you call this a single window or four windows attached
together. In both cases, you will be right. Windows are always
meant to provide good cross-ventilation. They do not play
a very important role in Vaastu, as long as they are at a
height of two and a half feet or more above ground. Floor
level windows are to be considered as doors as far as Vaastu
is concerned. Their number being odd or even has no effect
on Vaastu.

3. DOES VAASTU YANTRAS WORK? |
|
| |
No! It is a ploy to cheat
the gullible. If an energy field can be altered by making
use of Yantras, then why not accept the same concept everywhere?
Why not use similar Yantras and CDs to cure the sick? Why
not install similar Yantras and play CDs to run your car without
petrol? If the first one can work, then rest should also work.
Don’ fall a prey for such well advertised frauds. |

4. IS ASTROLOGY AND VAASTU RELATED? |
|

|
| |
As I have explained in the
book, Astrology made in-roads to Vaastu at some time. One
can agree that impact of directional forces could be different
and vary from individual to individual. We see this in nature.
A place suits one and not the other. Similarly, our reactions
to different weather conditions are different. As every individual
is unique, the impact of forces also vary.
But it is not possible to design indivudual specific structures.
Vaastu is more universal in approach. A family may consist
of parents, their children, their spouses as well as other
relatives. A structure should be so designed that it brings
the best out of every indivudual residing there. Vaastu has
proved that it works fine as long as its principle are incorporated
faithfully. The ownership of a building can change at any
point of time. Naturally, if a building is designed to suit
a specific individual then it cannot be purchased by others.
It cannot even be inherited by his own children.
Again in case of large industries, where there may be several
owners, incorporating astrological factors become impossible.
It is therefore, best not to consider astrology while adopting
Vaastu.

5. CAN I HAVE KITCHEN IN SOUTHWEST? |
|

There are houses where
the kitchen is in Southwest. As stated in the book, Southwest
is the area where bio-force gets liberated. As bio-energy
is sensitive to heat, higher temperature here weakens it.
Secondly the best benefit of the field is not available as
the kitchen and not the bedroom will be in Southwest.
In oldern days, the number of people staying in a house was
comparatively large. Every houshold consisted of a minimum
of 10 to 15 people. Hence, the fire place in the kitchen was
kept alive from morning till night. As only firewood was available,
the kitchen was a very hot place to be in. But today the average
size of a household has drastically reduced. The use of gas
burners has eliminated fire wood. Modern kitchens are quite
cool and airy. Because of the efficient way of heat transfer,
the other parts of the kitchen remain cool. Hence, it stands
to reason that a Southwest kitchen cannot be that bad. Studies
show that there will be no impact on health of the family
members as long as the Northeast of the house is powerful.
If you already have a Southwest Kitchen, consider strengthening
the Northeast in case any one in the family has a chronic
health problem. There is no need to shift the kitchen.

6. CAN I HAVE SWITCHBOARDS IN NORTHEAST? |
|
| |
Certainly yes. People are
under the impression that Switch-boards should be only in
Southeast. It need not be so. The point where electricity
gets converted to heat is the critical factor. The wire or
a switch in the sector has no impact on Vaastu. If you closely
observe any building, you will find that every building will
have concealed electrical wires in the walls in Northeast
and even under the roof. |

7. SHOULD THE MASTER OF A HOUSE ALWAYS STAY IN
SOUTHWEST ROOM? |
|

This rule was made as among
all the rooms - a room in the Southwest is the healthiest.
It is here the bio-force is maximum. As the health of the
head of the family is most critical for continued growth and
prosperity of the family, the master of the house was rightly
assigned this place. If the house has good Vaastu, the rooms
on West, Northwest and South are quite good. Hence, if you
are the head of a family and do not like the Southwest Room,
by all means move to another room which you like. |

8.. SHOULD DAUGHTERS BE GIVEN THE NORTHWEST ROOM?
|
|

There is no truth in this.
Northwest room can be occupied by any one including head of
the family. It is not going to affect the way you look at
life and will not make you restless as some people want you
to believe. |

9. WHAT ARE TEH RITUALS
TO BE PERFORMED FOR CLOSING OF WELL?
None. You are doing something which is
in accordance with nature’s law. That itself is the
right ritual.
10. IN A FACTORY, SHOULD THE OWNER OCCUPY
SOUTHWEST ALWAYS?
No. Weight is the important factor here
and not the person.
11. HOW CAN A CENTRAL OPENING AFFECT VAASTU?
For a ground floor, there is no effect,
if there is central opening. You can see this in all old houses
in any village. But for the first floor, the central opening
gives a pit effect. We have already learnt that a depression
in any sector increases its strength. The centre portion has
to be neutral at Zero energy level for proper peripheral flow
of forces. But once you create a depression, it will become
stronger than Northeast which will be at a higher level. The
pit will then act as a Southwest depression and gives bad
results. This is the reason it is best avoided.

12. WILL BAD VAASTU AFFECT THE OWNER OR THE TENANT?
Vaastu is a characteristic of the structure.
Whoever resides in the structure are the recipients of the
effects. The question of ownership does not come into the
picture.
13. SOME PEOPLE SAY THAT ONE SHOULD NOT WALK ON A WATER SUMP.
IS IT CORRECT?
Again, if you see life in under developed
villages you find that large open wells were dug to serve
the entire village. With the pully yet to make entry, the
only way to lift water was to keep a wooden board or logs
of wood across the well and wall over it to the centre to
draw water. This rule was made so that people will not use
it as a shortcut and the children as well as the aged keep
away from it. It was a safety protection. This rule has no
relevance in the present days. Even though you are not aware,
you are walking on water all the time, when you move on a
city road as all roads have water pipes underneath. Thousands
of ships are sailing on water and sailors keep on moving inside
it over the water all the time. You know nothing goes wrong.
14. HOW CAN A TOILET IN NORTHEAST CREATE
TROUBLE?
In any toilet the outlet pipe is connected
to a pit or a septic tank or to a sewage pipe provided by
the Corporation. Sewage is energy dead. It is rebusement under
decomposition.
A cosmic force gets completely repelled when it comes in contact
with energy dead decaying materials. A Northeast force stands
for development of life. Sewage is life dead which is beyond
redemption. Hence no flow takes place resulting in a total
absence of Vaastu field.
15. THERE IS A GENERAL BELIEF THAT A HOUSE SHOULD HAVE THREE
STEPS. IS THIS CORRECT?
As you are aware each step has a rise of
6 inches. Three steps means 18 inches. If you refer the graph
of difference in level Vs. Northeast strength, you will find
that at 18 inches the flow is maximum. Hence the rule. What
we have to appreciate here is that the rule defines the level
difference between the floor level of the house and the open
area outside in Northeast.
Naturally, you have to follow this rule with reference, to
thedoor in Northeast only. It can be the back door in case
of West and South facing plots or front door in case of East
and North facing plots.
You should not follow this rule if your house faces West or
South. If you have maintained the levels in the set back as
discussed earlier, then the house floor level will be very
near the set back level in front of your main door.

16. ARE SOUTH AND WEST
FACING PLOTS BAD?
There is nothing that is good or bad in
nature. That applies to directions as well. No direction is
good or bad. Every direction has a good part and a bad part.
If you have understood the theory discussed earlier, you will
realize that application of Vaastu faithfully will yield benefits
irrespective of the facing of the plot.
17. IN CASE OF A BAD VAASTU HOUSE THAT IS TENANTED WHO IS
SUBJECTED TO THE ILL EFFECTS?
Vaastu is a quality of the structure. It
effects only the tenant. Indirectly, it may affect the owner
as a tenant in trouble can give headaches to the owner too!
18. IS THERE ANY TRUTH THAT POOJA SHOULD BE IN NORTHEAST?
No! A pooja in northeast adds weight in
a sensitive area. Avoid Northeast pooja. Keep it open and
clean.
